Raipur Superintendent of Police (SP) Neetu Kamal on Saturday directed all the government and private school principals to generate awareness among the students and parents over rise in crime through social media.
She was holding a meeting of the school principals at Red Cross Society Conference Hall here. Kamal remarked : “School students, both boys and girls are using smart phones and access social media platforms due to which they are getting addicted to them and neglecting studies.”
She added, “The children are making videos and making it viral. They are also playing some games which are life threatening.”
“There is an urgent need for intervention among the students. So small groups should be formed and a workshop should be held to create awareness among them. Similarly, the parents should also be made aware of side effects of providing mobile phones to children and on how to monitor their use by children,” she said.
Kamal also directed the school principals that to reduce crime involving school bus and auto drivers, the names of drivers should be registered.
She also laid stress on the responsibilities of teachers and school over the security of children. The principals
raised several issues in the meeting on which assurance was given to constitute a team to look into their problems and resolve it.
