Hindi Play Kaal Kothri was staged at Shaheed Bhavan auditorium here on Friday showcasing the life journey of a theatre artist.
Scripted by Swadesh Deepak, the play was directed by Sarfaraz Hassan. It was brilliantly performed by the artists of Young’s Theatre, Bhopal. This story is about Rajat who is following his passion and is a great stage actor but when money becomes the sole measurement of success, the first thing which gets affected is art.
The play showcases the personal life of theatre actor and his relation to his wife, parents and friends. It also talks about many more issues especially the corruption in culture. He has hardly any money to feed his family and faces a very tough time with his son and wife.
His retired father and unmarried sister has to work in order to support the family. Eventually, Rajat is forced to find a job but does not get succeed. How Rajat then overcomes his fears and faces the world forms rest of the story.
The play beautifully depicts the life of a theatre artist whose future is as dark as a ‘Kaal Kothari’ where even the sun rays cannot peep in.
The play was wondrously performed by the artists leaving the audience impressed. The intelligent light design and backdrop of the play added zest in the performance. Besides, the directorial skills of Sarafarz were commendable. The fusion of opera and Persian theatre style were also used in the presentation of the play.
