Will sit in Oppn in case of hung Assly: Mayawati

Saturday, 17 November 2018 | Staff Reporter | ARANG

Calling upon poor to vote in bulk for Bahujan Samaj Party-Janta Congress Chhattisgarh (J) and Communist Party of India alliance, BSP Supremo Mayawati announced on Friday that she would prefer to sit in opposition rather than to be part of the Government either with the BJP or the Congress in Chhattisgarh.

“I will sit in opposition in case of hung assembly’’ she remarked while addressing a joint public meeting of the alliance at Baktara in Raipur district’s Arang assembly constituency while campaigning for the JCC (J) candidate Sanjay Chelak.

Mayawati’s comment assumes much significance in the state as there is a buzz in political circle that the former chief minister Ajit Jogi who is a part of the alliance, could prefer to ally with BJP rather than Congress for the formation of the next Government if the poll results throw a fractured mandate.

The polling for the second and final phase for 72 seats in Chhattisgarh is scheduled on November 20 while voting already concluded for 18 seats on November 12. Results will be declared on December 11 along with four other states.

Mayawati said at Baktara that the poor people are in majority and if they decide firmly then no power can stop the BSP alliance to get majority in Chhattisgarh.
