UP min calls Rahul a ‘badshah of lies’

Wednesday, 26 September 2018 | PNS | Lucknow

Attacking Congress president Rahul Gandhi over the Rafale fighter aircraft deal, Health Minister Sidharth Nath Singh called him an ‘emperor of lies’ for levelling unsubstantiated and absurd charges against Prime Minister Narendra Modi. “Rahul Gandhi, who was earlier called as ‘shahzada’, has now graduated to becoming emperor of lies for levelling charges on Rafale deal without substance and proof,” Singh said while addressing media persons in Lucknow on Tuesday.

The Health Minister said that the Congress chief should answer two questions. “One, when the deal for 126 Rafale fighter jets by UPA government was signed, was HAL included in it, and two, whether was there an agreement for the inclusion of Reliance with the manufacturing company Dassault Aviation of France in 2012?” he asked.

Claiming that the jet mess would have no impact on the 2019 Lok Sabha polls, Singh said that the Congress was trying to confuse people as they had no other agenda before them to contest the coming poll. “People of the country would not accept a liar, whose party and family have robbed the country in the past,” he added.

Singh said that the Congress was questioning as to why the agreement with HAL was scrapped. “They should first answer as to why their government did not enter into an alliance with the HAL and why did they put it on abeyance,” he said.

Meanwhile, the Health Minister made it clear that Ayushman Bharat scheme would be implemented in full force in the next two months. “You give us some time as hospitals are being linked and by the next two months, around 2,000 hospitals would be linked benefiting 60 million poor of the state. We have already linked Ram Manohar Lohia hospital in Lucknow and the process is underway to bring King George’s Medical University (KGMU) under the umbrella. There is some issue over the rates for linking of SGPGI, but it will be resolved soon,” Singh said.

The minister added that there were 1,350 diseases to be covered under the scheme and, hence, different hospitals would have to be assigned for different diseases. “In the coming couple of months, everything will be in place,” he assured. Ayushman Bharat scheme or Modicare was launched in UP on Sunday but the first patient from Gorakhpur had to be rushed to Kanpur for treatment as facilities were not available in BRD Medical College in Gorakhpur.
