A traffic policeman was killed while on duty at VIP road when a tree fell on him during arrival of Bharatiya Janata Party’s National President Amit Shah to the city.
A tree fell over him and he succumbed to injuries while undergoing treatment at a private hospital, police said. The Station House Officer, Mana informed that the name of policeman is Akash Gosai and is a resident of Kayabandha in Atal Nagar.
Inclement weather persisted in the morning and strong wind was also blowing. In between, the cop who was standing under the tree while on duty got seriously injured when tree fell over him, police said.
He was immediately rushed to a private hospital in the capital but he succumbed to injuries during treatment , police said.
In another incident, former Parliamentary Secretary and former MLA from Dharamjaigarh, Om Prakash Rathia and three other BJP leaders sustained serious injuries in a road mishap while they were on way to Raipur to attend the programme of
Amit Shah. The incident took place at the main road of Mandir Hasaud around 5 am on Friday. The leaders have been admitted to a private hospital where their condition is reported to be stable.
