The inter-disciplinary researches should be focused on sustainable development in the rural areas through maintaining the linkage among forest, agriculture and animal husbandry to contribute in economic growth and protection of environment, stated R K Maikhuri, in-charge, GB Pant National Institute for Himalayan Environment and Sustainable Development. Maikhuri was speaking at the inaugural session of a week-long national workshop on Research Methodology organised by Faculty Development Centre under PMMMNMTT scheme of MHRD, Govt. of India at HNB Garhwal University Srinagar (Garhwal) Uttatakhand.
The workshop is being attended by 45 teacher participants of eight different universities from across the country.
Maikhuri further stated that researches and publications in social sciences without citation have no value.
Prof Vasudha Pande, University of Delhi, and the chief guest of the session emphasised the need of consulting the available literature in different languages for quality research to be acceptable at global level, especially if the research is being carried out on regional and interdisciplinary issues.
