The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) had never cared about the sentiments of people of Bastar region. The prevailing environment of Bastar is still in favour of Congress party as there is resentment among the tribal populace over BJP’s policies on ‘Jal-Jangal’ (Water-Forest) and Jameen (Land), said former Union Minister and veteran Congress leader from Bastar region Arvind Netam.
Addressing a Press conference here at Rajiv Bhawan on Monday, Netam said the ruling BJP Government in the State during the past 15 years never tried to be serious over the rights of tribals.
He said that the BJP had failed to find a solution for the grievances and plight of tribal populace.
Netam further appealed to the Election Commission and the district administrations in Bastar to ensure free and fair polls in the tribal dominated areas.
Commenting on tribal leader and former CGPCC Working president Ramdayal Uike, Netam said he (Uike) was having ideology of BJP while even being a Congress member.
Uike has now joined the place where his ideology suits, he said.
