The inspectorate staff of Haryana Labour Department has conducted 59 regular inspections of various industrial establishments and launched prosecutions in 640 cases under Factories Act, 1948 during August 2018.
Giving details, a spokesman of the Department said that in the beginning of the month, 668 industrial disputes were pending and 416 were raised by the workers or their unions thus raising the total number of disputes to 1,084.
Out of these 129 industrial disputes were got settled by the conciliation officers of the Labour Department and one dispute was withdrawn by workers or trade unions. The Department conducted 59 inspections under various labour laws and recovered a sum of Rs 73,500 as fine during August 2018, he said.
As many as 64 prosecutions were launched and 37 convictions were obtained during the month, he added.
The spokesman further said that the Department is running five whole-time labour welfare centres at important industrial towns of the state namely Hisar, Rohtak, Faridabad, Dharuhera and Charkhi-Dadri. In these centres, workers were provided the facilities of reading room, library, knitting or serving, training classes for women, games and other recreational activities, he added.
