Joining hands with SP, BSP suicidal for Cong: Pandey

Thursday, 20 September 2018 | PNS | Lucknow

Bharatiya Janata Party state president Mahendra Nath Pandey said that to stop the ruling party from coming to power, the Congress was going to commit hara-kiri by joining hands with Bahujan Samaj Party and Samajwadi Party because both these parties were casteist and corrupt.

"Everyone knows what had happened during the BSP and the SP regimes. Their leaderships had looted government exchequer to fill personal coffers, neglecting the plight of the people. If Congress wants to contest election with these corrupt parties, it will be suicidal for it," Pandey said while addressing a samajik pratinidhi baithak (social representative meeting) here on Wednesday.

He said that BSP leader Mayawati should not forget the Guest House incident in which SP goons had tried to kill her. He pointed out that at that time only the BJP had come to her rescue but now she was ready to join hands with the SP.

"This proposed alliance is opportunistic and has no vision. The target of these leaders is only to defeat the BJP," Pandey said.

"The Congress has lost its ground in Uttar Pradesh. It will suffer more once it joins hands with the BSP and the SP because this alliance will suffer a stunning defeat in the election," the BJP state chief said.

As this samajik pratinidhi baithak was attended by swarnkars (goldsmiths), Pandey said that these people had always been supporters of BJP since Jan Sangh days and the party had improved because of their support.

Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya also spoke on this occasion. He said that India had progressed in all fields during Narendra Modi's regime. He said all sections, including farmers, youths, women and entrepreneurs, had progressed in the last four and half years.

Maurya appealed to the Swarnkar Samaj to support the BJP in the 2019 Lok Sabha election.
