PDistrict administration officials were on high alert round the clock as the people celebrated the Dushhera with fervor across Ranchi city. Besides, deploying police force at sensitive places, top officials patrolled the streets till late in the night to ensure the peace during the festivities.
Ranchi deputy commissioner Rai Mahimapat Ray, SSP Anis Gupta and other senior officials moved around the city till 2 am for the past two days.
“We all also monitored the city from the control room through the closed circuit television cameras installed in across the city during the day,” Ray said.
The administration has deployed policemen with each puja samiti as the latter took out procession to immerse the idols of deities. Six escort teams comprising policemen were deputed in different areas to ensure smooth passage of the processions especially in the heavy traffic areas.
The joint order issued by the district administration directed the escort teams to be in touch with the local police station officer and also the puja organizer regarding the procession. The magistrates were asked to be acquainted with routes taken by various durga puja committees and ensure the procession is not deviated. The administration had asked them to inform the police as soon as any dispute occurred.
“The districts administration placed national disaster relief teams at Bada Talab, Chadri pond and Dhurwa Dam. Volunteers were deployed at other water bodies for preventing mishap during the rituals,” Ranchi DC said.
It may be stated here that Ranchi was considered a sensitive district in view of puja celebration with the police head quarters deploying extra force here to maintain law and order. The district administration had posted static forces at sensitive areas of the city. Drones and closed circuit television cameras were used to monitor the situation across the city.
ADM law and order Akhilesh Kumar informed that immersion ritual was peaceful till evening.
