Heavy rain alert for many places in Uttarakhand for next 36 hours

After a few days’ dry spell, the wet climate returned to the state. It rained intermittently in Dehradun since Friday night. The sky was overcast on Saturday and it rained the whole day. The regional Met centre issued heavy to very heavy rain alert for a large swathe of the state, including Dehradun, for the next 36 hours.

As per the regional meteorological centre, heavy to very heavy rain might lash several districts across the Garhwal and the Kumaon regions, including Dehradun, Haridwar, Uttarkashi, Chamoli, Rudraprayag, Bageshwar and Pithoragarh during the next 36 hours. Besides, light to moderate rain and thunderstorm might occur in the rest of the state on Sunday.

In an orange alert issued by the Met office based in Dehradun on Saturday, the weather officers said that the present wet spell would continue for a few days and the monsoon season is likely to end by the end of this month.

As per the weather forecast, the sky would be mostly overcast in Dehradun on Sunday and there is a likelihood of one or two spells of shower or thundershower in the city on the day.

Meanwhile, Dehradun experienced a wet day on Saturday as it rained or drizzled intermittently throughout the day. The sky remained cloudy. The maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to hover between 28 to 21 degree Celsius in the city on the day, the Met officers said.
