Haryana Cong leader detained with 13 live cartridges

A Congress leader from Haryana was detained by Gandhi Nagar police after 13 live cartridges were recovered from his possession at Raja Bhoj International Airport of the State capital in the early morning hours on Tuesday.

After cartridges were recovered Congressmen from Haryana Jagbir Singh was banned from boarding the flight he was scheduled to take for Delhi. The CISF personnel informed Gandhi Nagar police and Singh was arrested for possession of arms illegal. However, Singh provided documents of permission which he obtained over Whatsapp send by his family members but it was found that the permission of carrying firearms was limited in his district only and he could not carry firearms outside his district.

Deputy Commandant (CISF) Virendra Singh said that a passenger was found carrying 13 live cartridges who was scheduled to board Delhi flight was detained and police were informed for further investigation.

SHO of Gandhi Nagar police Praveen Chouhan failed to provide any valid document of cartridges.

The accused is a resident of Jind in Haryana and came to the state capital to attend the procession of Congress President Rahul Gandhi and while on his way back to Delhi he was nabbed with live cartridges. After the preliminary investigation police registered a case of Arms Act against Jagbir and later he was produced in the court where he was granted bail and later released.

It was found that Jagbir is active party member in Haryana and has been appointed as Congress observer of Sheopur district.
