Blaming the Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat for violating the model code of conduct enforced in the State in view of the upcoming urban local body (ULB) elections, the State Congress has demanded that the State Election Commission should take a serious note of it and take prompt action against him.
In a letter written to the State Election Commission, the party has said that making any declaration of any development-related activity or inauguration of any project during the electioneering amounts to the violation of the model code of conduct.
In the letter, the State Congress vice-president Surya Kant Dhasmana said that the CM Rawat on the occasion of the State foundation day on November 9 had declared that the Prime Minister Narendra Modi would inaugurate Haridwar-Dehradun cooking gas pipeline on November 22, something which is a clear case of the violation of the model code of conduct.
He said that the declaration was definitely meant to influence the voters when the campaigning was running in full swing for the ULB polls.
The party has requested the State Election Commission to take note of the violation by the CM and register a case against him for the same.
