UPA has neglected Orissa again: Naveen
PNS | Bhubaneswar
Reacting sharply to the inclusion of only one MP from the State in the Union Cabinet, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Thursday said the State has been ‘neglected’ once again by the Congress-led UPA Government.
“As usual the Congress-led Government at the Centre has neglected Orissa’s interest and its representation in the Council of Ministers,” Patnaik told mediapersons here.
The expansion of the Ministry is a reflection of the Congress’ ‘attitude’ towards the State, which should have more representation in the Centre, he said.
To a query whether newly inducted Minister of State Srikant Jena should quit the post to maintain the State’s pride, Patnaik said: “I will not like to comment on the new MoS. Ask him what he should do”.
Meanwhile, MP Bhakta Charan Das has welcomed the inclusion of Jena.” Jena is a very senior parliamentarian. We will raise various issues with his help,” he said.
On the other hand, Hemananda Biswal said he expected that the Centre would again reconsider his decision.
But the senior Congress leaders were tightlipped on their reactions. However, senior Congress leader Narsingha Misha said he hoped another MP from the State would be inducted into the Cabinet.
