Former Odisha Minister and three-time Bhograi MLA Kamala Das passed away at a private hospital here late on Thursday night. She was 79.
As per family sources, Das complained of illness at her residence in Saheed Nagar, Bhubaneswar two weeks ago, following which she was admitted to the Apollo Hospital in the city.
After being diagnosed with lung infection, she was shifted to the the Ashwini Hospital in Cuttack 12 days ago.
She was on ventilator at the hospital for the last three days while she died at around 12.30 am.
Das was elected to the Odisha Legislative Assembly three times from the Bhograi constituency in Baleswar district. She had successfully contested elections in 1990 as a Janata Dal candidate, again in 1995 as a Janata Dal nominee and in 2000 as a BJD candidate.
